Four schools have earned the distinction of 2022 NH Schools of Excellence, the New Hampshire Excellence in Education (EDies) Board announced this week:
- Manchester’s Highland-Goffe’s Falls Elementary School: 2022 Elementary School of Excellence
- Henniker Community School: 2022 K-8 School of Excellence
- Amherst Middle School: 2022 Middle School of Excellence
- Windham High School: 2022 High School of Excellence
The awards are given each year to recognize schools that meet high standards of excellence. Criteria are developed by the New Hampshire Excellence in Education Awards Board of Directors and applied by selection committees comprising experienced NH educators and community leaders.
Members of the EDies board announced the winners at special school assemblies.
The Henniker Community School was selected, in part, for its deeply-rooted community spirit and curriculum-based events such as the Third Grade Henniker History Walk and AOK (Ambassadors of Kindness) program, according to a statement released by the school. The school was also recognized for individual student goal setting and programming to support the needs of each student.
“I am incredibly proud of the Henniker Community School. The faculty, staff, and community are dedicated to taking care of students and each other. They strive for excellence each day, and it is wonderful that they are being recognized for their work,” SAU 24 Superintendent of Schools Jacqueline Coe said in a statement.
“It is in this moment today that we can reflect on our work, and know that teaching is a profession that allows us the opportunity of knowing that we have the ability to change lives for the better,” Highland-Goffe’s Elementary School Principal Susan Matthews said in a statement published in the Union Leader. “Today we are being recognized for having done our best to make a difference in the lives of our students. I can speak for everyone here when I say we are humbly grateful to be chosen as a School of Excellence by the EDies Committee, and we thank them.”
