Education Commissioner Frank Edelblut announced that the Department of Education will form an education finance committee, reported the Concord Monitor. The committee will study the cost of education in the state and report back to the legislative committee tasked with doing the same:
“This is an issue that we all have an interest in,” Edelblut said in a statement. “It affects all of us, which is why this committee is so important. I believe there is an important role for those of us in education to lead by coming up with ideas and solutions that we can bring to the Legislature.”
The committee will be tasked with identifying best practices for managing finances, evaluating alternative delivery models, and considering alternative funding models.
