Join us in welcoming Liz Canada, our new Director of Community Engagement

Reaching Higher NH is excited to welcome Liz Canada, our new Director of Community Engagement. As the Director, Liz is responsible for leading community engagement initiatives, and building relationships, partnerships, and sustained community involvement in efforts that support student learning.

Liz grew up in New Jersey, in the area her father affectionately refers to as, “the part you think of when you think of New Jersey.” She’s worked in various education settings around the country, and she is eager and excited to join the Reaching Higher NH team as the Director of Community Engagement.

Most recently, Liz was the Director of Coaching at 1647, a Boston-based organization focused on reimagining family engagement in Massachusetts schools. She coached and supported school leaders and teachers in building positive relationships with their students’ families. For the past two years, she has also been on the teaching team of Dr. Karen Mapp’s graduate course, “The Why, What, and How of School, Family, and Community Partnerships” at the Harvard Graduate School of Education.

Prior to working at 1647, Liz worked for the Denver Scholarship Foundation as a College Advisor and the Assistant Director of College Access. She collaborated on projects for the annual FAFSA Workshops, Financial Aid Taskforce, and Denver Public Schools’ Summer Melt program, all while managing her own Future Center at Denver North High School. Liz has also taught English and literature at the high school, community college, and four-year private university levels.

Liz received her Bachelor of Science in Education in Secondary Education English from Bloomsburg University, her Master of Arts in English at Seton Hall University, and her Master of Education in Education Policy and Management from the Harvard Graduate School of Education. She’s always looking for the opportunity to learn, though recognizes that her friends and family will not tolerate her pursuing any more Master’s degrees.

Feel free to reach out to Liz at liz@reachinghighernh.org. Welcome, Liz!
