Sanborn Superintendent Brian Blake "a true champion for children"

New Hampshire School Administrators Association and the American Association of School Administrators recently recognized Dr. Brian Blake, Superintendent of Sanborn Regional School District, as 2016’s Superintendent of the Year by the reported the Union Leader.

Dr. Blake has led the district’s implementation of competency-based education and PACE, the innovative program that replaces standardized tests with locally-developed, competency-based assessments.  School districts across the country see Sanborn as a model of excellence for putting students at the center of their learning. His colleagues also praised Dr. Blake:

“Brian Blake is a wonderful example of a true champion for children, working tirelessly on behalf of the children and citizens of his communities,” said Mark V. Joyce, executive director of the New Hampshire School Administrators Association.
Brian Stack, principal of Sanborn Regional High School in Kingston, described Blake as a dedicated and enthusiastic superintendent.

“He strives to make the Sanborn (district) one of the best in our state, and he works tirelessly on behalf of all the children in our district on a daily basis,” he said.
Ellen Hume-Howard, the Sanborn district’s director of curriculum, said Blake’s listening skills are his greatest strength.

“But more than just being a listener, Brian values the voices of everyone in our organization and in the community. There is no decision that he makes that he doesn’t include the interests of all the parties involved,” she said.
