The Holmes Center for School Partnerships and Educator Preparation at Plymouth State University is partnering with the Gay, Lesbian and Straight Education Network (GLSEN) of New Hampshire to offer anti-bullying training for educators. The University hosted a day-long training in July, but both organizations continue to offer training for educators.

From NHPR:

Mary Earick is the Holmes’ Center’s Director. She says hurtful interactions between students can be tricky for teachers to address.

“We have to really be mindful of how we respond to those students in the classroom,” Earick says. “Now, we need tools on how to do that.”

Earick says the Network has several years of experience in navigating these conversations.

GLSEN New Hampshire strives to make all schools welcoming and safe spaces for all students regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity or expression. Their Magnet Trainings offer the chance for educators to earn professional development credit as they learn to become leaders in anti-bullying and allies for LGBTQ+ students. This program will educate school staff about current bullying statistics, bullying intervention, and inclusive curriculum for your classrooms.

GLSEN also offers faculty trainings and seminars on LGBTQ issues in schools, chapter meetings for youth, and other community outreach programs. Check out their Facebook and Twitter accounts to learn more.

The Holmes Center for School Partnerships and Educator Preparation at Plymouth State University is a policy innovation center that engages in cutting-edge research on personalized inclusive educational pathways by advancing the educational and social welfare of children, youth, families.
